Chameleon Beauty Salon has spent more than a decade on Montrose Avenue doing color, cuts, and beauty work for clients across the Los Angeles foothills. We are a full-service salon, which here means a colorist, a cutting stylist, a licensed permanent makeup artist, a certified trichologist, and a licensed electrologist all working under one roof, so a single visit can cover more than one thing and nobody gets handed off to a stranger across town.

Hair Color in Montrose

Color is what most people find us for. We do full color, foil highlights and lowlights, gray coverage that grows out gracefully, vivid and fashion tones, and hand-painted balayage and ombré for anyone who wants brightness without a six-week maintenance schedule. Before You Book

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Both work. Appointments are recommended, especially for color, extensions, keratin, bridal, and trichology consultations, since those need longer blocks of time and fill first. Walk-ins are genuinely welcome whenever the schedule allows, so it is always worth calling to ask about the same day.

How far ahead should I book?

Haircuts, blowouts, and brow work can often be scheduled within a few days. Color, extensions, and keratin are better booked a week or two out. Bridal dates during peak season should be reserved six to nine months ahead, with the trial four to eight weeks before the wedding.

How much does hair color cost at your salon?

It depends on your hair's length, density, and how much lift you want, which is why we quote after a short consultation rather than posting a flat list that would be wrong for half the people reading it. Call us and describe what you are after and we can give you a realistic range before you come in.

Can you fix box color or a bad dye job?

Usually, yes. Box color and previous lightening are regular work here rather than special cases. Corrections are planned in stages because forcing everything into one appointment is how hair gets compromised, so expect us to be honest about whether it takes one visit or three.

Do you cut men's hair?

Yes. Tapers, fades, scissor cuts, and beard trims are all part of what we do, alongside women's cuts and styling.

What is a trichologist, and why does a salon have one?

A trichologist specializes in the health of hair and scalp rather than styling. Shawn works with clients experiencing thinning, shedding, hormonal or postpartum changes, and scalp concerns, starting with digital scalp analysis instead of guesswork. She is not a physician and does not diagnose medical conditions, and when something needs a doctor she says so.
